Cotton is one of the most used clothing materials in the world and understanding social responsibility and environmental impact of the cotton production is critical for Pan-Pacific as this requirement is our significant principle to achieve the sustainable growth with community and stakeholders harmoniously. Regrettably, there have been numerous cases reported on social and environmental issues associated with cotton production and there is no company in the apparel industry that is exempt from the obligation to eradicate them.

Scope


The scope of this policy covers entire raw material products purchased by Pan-Pacific including products from both customers nominated and company sourced raw material vendors.

Goal


Pan-Pacific has been promoting and expanding sustainable cotton products with our stakeholders in the garment industry. Responsibly produced cotton is certified under strict social and environmental standards through each specifically regulated traceability confirming documents and systems such as scope certificates, transaction certificates etc. The list of certifications we accept include, but not limited to :


  • - BCI (Better Cotton Initiatives)
  • - GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard)
  • - OCS (Organic Content Standard)
  • - Cotton Incorporated
  • - Cotton LEADS
  • - Cotton USA

Cotton Growing Regions with High Risks of Social Responsibility


Pan-Pacific prohibits sourcing cotton products produced, processed, or purchased from high-risk areas. No cotton should be knowingly or intentionally sourced from following regions by Pan-Pacific.


  • - Turkmenistan
  • - Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, China

The above regions and countries have been sustained allegations of being subjected to forced labor, prison labor, and child labor and following reports and orders have been referred to prohibit the export of any cotton product to the United States where our primary customers are located :


  • - The Withhold Release Order, filed by the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP)
  • - Xinjiang Supply Chain Business Advisory, issued by the U.S. Department of State, alongside the U.S. Department of the Treasury,
    the U.S. Department of Commerce, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative, and the U.S. Department of Labor
  • - List of Goods Produced by Child Labor or Forced Labor by The U.S. Department of Labor’
  • - Trafficking in Persons Report by The U.S. Department of State

Verification and Due Diligence

  • 1. Raw material vendors must declare through the designated form of “Cotton Compliance Certification” and provide all required information like the cotton type and country of origin in all transportation documentation such as commercial invoice, bill of lading, logistics, proof payment etc.
  • 2. Raw material vendors that supply sustainable or responsibly grown cotton products must follow reporting and traceability guidelines published by a specific certification program certifying the product.
  • 3. Pan-Pacific CSR and Fabric Sourcing Departments conduct due diligence & risk assessment continuously by reviewing all traceability documentations submitted.
